A Farewell from Maurice Snell

Easterseals serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford is so proud of Maurice Snell who worked with us in Human Resources and Development for more than a decade and was a graduate of our Easterseals Academy. Maurice has joined De Lasalle Institute as Development Coordinator. In his final days on staff, he shared a farewell message.

I never thought it would come to the end of an era of my association with Easterseals. After nearly 15 years as an employee and nearly 30 years being involved with the organization, I have decided to embark on another opportunity and develop my talents with another organization. I will forever be grateful to Easterseals and what it taught me for many years.

I’ve experienced many accomplishments during my time at Easterseals. I became an ambassador during my years as a client and it transcended into adulthood. I was fortunate enough to inspire many others through my work at Easterseals throughout my ambassadorship and being the National Adult Representative. I met many different people through other Easterseals affiliates locally and across the country, which is a great memory I will always have.

Aside from my work at Easterseals, I was able to get involved with many interests such as ComEd, which included me being the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program Ambassador for the past 10 years.  I enjoyed being with a camaraderie of ambassadors spreading the word about energy efficiency awareness.  I learned a lot being ambassador as I got to share my stories of inspiration and knowledge to many others.

I would like to thank all my colleagues, past and present, for helping me to achieve to my greatest standards.  I would not be the man that I am today if it wasn’t for the support of my peers and I’m grateful to be involved in the organization that has given me the opportunity to shine. I encourage that same success with the current clients at Easterseals with autism and beyond; they can be another Maurice Snell in this world. All it takes is love and dedication to be successful in life going forward.
