Six new grants support HarrysButtons in expansion of programming for individuals with disabilities
We’ve been awarded grant funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to serve an additional 316 children and families in Chicago and an additional 73 children and families in Suburban Cook County. As a result of these new awards, Easterseals will serve a total of approximately 1,900 children and families in suburban Cook County and Chicago, an increase of 27 percent.
We have big news. Author and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott announced today that she has made an unrestricted transformational gift to Easterseals serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford.
Our Illinois Autism Partnership (IAP) took part in an initiative called The Flat Stanley Project that encourages reading and exposes young children to different places and cultures. Learn more and see Flat Stanley visit the most famous sites in Chicago!
The pandemic is challenging for everyone, but it’s particularly difficult for students with disabilities. We spoke with our own Sarah Smith, M.Ed., Manager of Training for the Illinois Autism Partnership (IAP), about the challenges facing students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their families, how to help support remote learning, and mask-wearing.
